Grip Leadership Conference

Kauri And Rimu went to the Grip Leadership Conference on the 12th of November.
It was a really fun experience. My heart was vibrating because it was so loud.
It was good that the crowd got to answer the question and play games to answer them.

Skellig

m

My speech

Speech:why McDonalds is bad for you.

1) Oh $5 deals let's go down to McDonalds and get a Big Mac. Everybody says “McDonalds is yum” well you could end up in hospital because of McDonalds. Did you also know that a Big Mac has been sitting in a container for 2 years and it isn’t moldy yet! Gross!!! I can tell you more about it if you listen to me.

2) I’m here to persuade you why McDonalds (and most other fast food providers) are bad for you.
I have 11 facts about the chemicals found in McDonalds that are true. If you didn’t eat it you would be so much more healthier.

3) Here are my 11 true facts:

  1. Researchers found that in the burger buns there is ammonium sulfate which is a bug killer.
  2. Silicone oil used in the chicken nuggets is also used for making contact lenses.
  3. Cysteine-L is the duck feathers found in the meat.
  4. TBHQ is found in 18 food items and it’s lethal.
  5. Propylene Glycol found in the drinks is known as a chemical that freezes cigarettes.
  6. Dimethylpolysiloxane is found in anything fried and is made from shampoo, polishes and many more.
  7. Carminic Acid found in meat, it’s a type of beetle.
  8. Cellulose, mostly found in every item on the menu, known as wood pulp.
  9. Silicon Dioxide found in most things and it’s sand.
  10. Finally toilet cleaner found in everything.

4) You can also put yourself at risk of one of the following diseases if you eat TOO  much McDonald’s:

  • 50% increased chance of getting heart disease
  • 30% increased chance of getting breast cancer
  • 20% increased chance of getting bowel cancer

5) In the end you will live a much longer life if you avoid fast foods and eat healthily, if you don’t avoid them just think of all that processed food and chemicals churning in your stomach.

Finally let’s go over the reasons why mcdonalds is bad for you there are chemicals and processed food in the food it’s cheap but not worth it and it’s fake.

As the saying goes you are what you eat so would you want to be a toilet cleaner?

Thank you.

How would you describe Michael’s family?
What are the reasons for this?

‘Doctor Death’ enters the story throughout these chapters. what reasons do you think the author has for this? Think of foreshadowing and the emotions of the characters.

Where do you think that the person in the shed comes from?
How has he survived over the years?
What do you think is his role in the story?
What do you think will happen to him and why?

The author has repeated several ideas so far and these are very significant to the rest of the story:
